The Five Grantees of the Initiative

The five grantees are testing an intensive approach to providing child welfare involved families with supportive housing that integrates the social and health services they need in order to stay together. The initiative reflects the growing recognition that placing children in foster care is too often detrimental to their health and well-being and that more should be done to help families stay together.

Cedar Rapids Community Forum

Through collaboration with local advocates, civic and business leaders, PUSH-CR is moving forward to preserve more families and ensure the safety of children in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. At a community forum, PUSH-CR rolled out its plan to further reduce homelessness among families, caseloads for child welfare agencies, and circumstances that separate children from their parents.

ACF Releases Information Memo

The US Administration for Children and Families (ACF) has released an Information Memorandum (IM) on child welfare and homelessness. The IM is meant to help child welfare agencies implement a desired practice or rule. Identified with the IM are promising practices, one of which is Partnerships to Demonstrate the Effectiveness of Supportive Housing for Families in the Child Welfare System.
