Meet the Five Grantees of the Initiative

The five grantees are testing an intensive approach to providing child welfare involved families with supportive housing that integrates the social and health services they need in order to stay together. The initiative reflects the growing recognition that placing children in foster care is too often detrimental to their health and well-being and that more should be done to help families stay together safely.

H.E.A.R.T. Serves 50 Families!

Through collaboration among 15 local child welfare, housing, health, legal, and social service providers, the H.E.A.R.T. (Housing, Empowerment, Achievement, Recovery, and Triumph) Alliance for Sustainable Families has reached a major milestone by housing and stabilizing 50 families involved in the child welfare system and also at risk of/or experiencing homelessness. H.E.A.R.T. is one of five national demonstration sites.
