Ability Housing, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 5 City Commissioner Regina I. Hill Break Ground on Village on Mercy

WHAT:

On Wednesday, April 4, leaders from Ability Housing, the City of Orlando and the Florida Housing Finance Corporation will break ground on a new multifamily housing development, Village on Mercy, bringing 166 affordable apartment homes to the Mercy Drive corridor. The development will comprise of four apartment buildings, a community center, a playground, a fitness trail and recreation space along Lake Lawne. The Village on Mercy development will be a catalyst for the city of Orlando’s Mercy Drive Vision Plan, aimed at strengthening the neighborhood and improving the quality of life in the area.

All of the apartments will be affordable, with income restrictions of 60 percent or less of the Area Median Income; 50 percent of the units will provide permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals and families. Construction will begin in April 2018 and is expected to take 18 months.
