Nearly 8,700 students in Minnesota’s public and charter schools experience homelessness, according to fall student enrollment data for the 2017-18 year. CSH knows homelessness and housing instability present one of the most significant challenges to the academic success of these students.

CSH knows homelessness and housing instability present one of the most significant obstacles to academic achievement and is supporting the goals of the Homework Starts with Home Initiative to promote early identification and more effective responses to the needs of Minnesota students in housing crises. This initiative encourages collaborative efforts among schools, housing organizations, and local governments to identify, engage, and stabilize students experiencing homelessness.
