CSH believes that everyone deserves safe and decent housing — a home where they can reach their best potential. As we celebrate Fair Housing Month, we’re happy to share a very personal success story of a woman who found a home in supportive housing and went on to fulfill another accomplishment in her life.
Julia* was a resident at Erna P. Harris Court in Berkeley, California. The program was one of the first to sponsor the Health and Housing Integrated Services Network (HHISN) piloted by our Northern California program in the 1990s. Thanks to that partnership, Julia had access to a range of supportive services and resources — everything she needed to stay housed.
But Julia did far more. While living in supportive housing, she fulfilled her dream of graduating from college, and has gone on to study for her Master’s degree. She’s made a successful transition out of supportive housing, and says that she’s studying social work because of her experience at Erna P. Harris Court.
CSH is incredibly proud to be a part of making Julia’s success possible, and we celebrate her and the thousands of men and women thriving in supportive housing.
