New Affordable Homes for Older Adults Coming to Everett, WA

CSH is proud to support the development of Bayside Landing, a new affordable housing community for older adults in Everett, WA.

Last week, Housing Hope celebrated the groundbreaking of a 67-home development in Everett, Washington, a suburb north of Seattle known for being the home of the Boeing factory Designed for adults age 55 and older, Bayside Landing marks a new chapter in Housing Hope’s efforts to expand affordable housing options in Snohomish County. The site was previously the home of the Everett United Church of Christ and according to the Herald Net, church members have long supported transitioning the property to affordable homes.

CSH funded this project through an early-stage $500,000 predevelopment loan, which helped move it from concept to reality.

As housing costs continue to rise, many older adults who are living on limited incomes face difficult choices about where they can afford to live. Some are at risk of homelessness. Others are spending so much on rent that there is little left for basic needs, and often must choose between paying for medication, food, and other expenses. Bayside Landing will help address those challenges by creating stable, affordable homes designed specifically for older residents who often have limited mobility and health challenges

Housing Hope has a long history of providing housing for people experiencing homelessness as well as households with lower incomes who cannot afford market-rate rents. With Bayside Landing, the organization is expanding that commitment by creating housing that meets the needs of an aging population.

CSH was proud to join public officials, housing partners, funders, and community advocates at the groundbreaking, many who have spent years helping bring the project to fruition. Affordable housing developments like Bayside Landing create opportunities for people to remain connected to their communities and age with greater stability while achieving their best level of health.

Congratulations to Housing Hope on this important milestone! We look forward to seeing Bayside Landing welcome its first residents in the years ahead.
