$5M Secured in Michigan FY26 Budget for Supportive Services Transformation Fund (SSTF)

CSH thanks Governor Whitmer, state Senators Jeff Irwin, Sylvia Santana, and Sarah Anthony, and state Representative John Roth for their commitment and dedication to supportive housing.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed the Michigan FY26 state budget earlier this month, which includes a $5M investment in supportive housing services. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will manage the funds, which will be distributed to supportive housing providers throughout the state. The funds will expand supportive housing providers’ ability to provide more intensive services to residents.

This funding follows a $6M investment in supportive housing services in the Michigan FY23 budget along with a $20M investment in FY25. FY23 and FY25 investments were distributed to Michigan supportive housing providers through a competitive process. Prior investments in Michigan SSTF are already having an impact: supportive housing residents served through this funding are experiencing a 99% housing stability rate.

CSH worked closely with state Senators Jeff Irwin, Sylvia Santana, and Sarah Anthony, and state Representative John Roth, along with supportive housing providers throughout Michigan, to advocate for the funding. Supportive housing providers Avalon Housing and Northwest Michigan Supportive Housing played key roles in the advocacy efforts.

CSH is grateful to the individuals and organizations who advocated for ongoing investment in supportive housing services, as well as our partners in the legislature who have championed supportive housing as an effective solution.
