Peggy Bailey, Vice President for Housing and Income Security at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, appointed to the CSH Board of Directors.

CSH today announced the appointment of Peggy Bailey to its board of directors. A tireless advocate helping to shape the intersection of affordable housing and health care for more than 20 years, Bailey is Vice President for Housing and Income Security at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP). In addition to being a CSH alumna, where she helped advance housing as a social determinant of health, Bailey has held numerous distinguished positions within the U.S. government and policymaking organizations working on expanding access to affordable housing resources, especially within communities of color.

Bailey first joined CBPP in 2016, spearheading an initiative that identified opportunities to strengthen the link between housing and health policy, then serving as Vice President for Housing. Bailey joined the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 2021 as Senior Advisor on Rental Assistance in the Office of the Secretary. During her tenure with HUD, Bailey oversaw the housing choice voucher program as well as public housing programs throughout the nation.

Bailey rejoined CBPP this year and now oversees the Center’s work to protect and expand access to affordable housing, improve states’ Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and child support programs and expand employment opportunities for housing and cash assistance recipients. Bailey’s work is centered in identifying the ways racism and discrimination have resulted in disinvestment in communities of color and created disparate outcomes for people in marginalized groups.

“We are excited that Peggy is joining the board to lend her expertise and experience in affordable and supportive housing at a time when CSH is committed to addressing racism and income insecurity as root causes for homelessness,” said Deborah De Santis, president & CEO of CSH. “We’re especially proud of Peggy’s distinction as a CSH alumna, where her work reflects our core mission of providing quality homes where tenants are housed, healthy and thrive in their communities.”

Bailey said, “I am honored to work closely again with the Corporation for Supportive Housing as a member of the Board of Directors. I have deep respect for the organization’s mission of advancing supportive housing solutions for people most in need and their dedication to serving our nation’s vulnerable communities. I look forward to serving with other members of the Board to center equity, innovation, and collaboration in the national supportive housing agenda.”

“I have had the great pleasure of working with Peggy at HUD and CBPP and have long admired her passion for housing as a fundamental human necessity - as well as her deep understanding of the critical intersection between health and home. The CSH Board of Directors welcomes Peggy and looks forward to benefiting from her vision and experience as we move forward,” said Stephen Norman, Chair, CSH Board of Directors.
