Program Manager, Mid-Atlantic

This position is based in Washington DC, Maryland, or Virginia and will be part of our Mid-Atlantic team.  All CSH staff are working virtually until our offices open post-pandemic. Post-pandemic this position will be remote.   Please identify preferred location in your application. 

What you will do:

This position advances CSH’s strategic goals and priorities by providing project and program-specific technical assistance (TA) in both the public and private sectors. Specifically, you will:

  • Support efforts in the Mid-Atlantic region to increase and align resources and build provider and community capacity to deliver high-quality supportive housing opportunities to a range of supportive housing populations.
  •  Contribute to or serve as project manager to one or more of our Mid-Atlantic grants and contracts, including coordination of internal and external project teams, monitoring project quality, and internal and external reporting.
  •  Provide in-person and virtual technical assistance and support to housing providers serving our target populations.
  •  Directly contribute to meeting project deliverables. Tasks will include writing and editing external-facing materials; developing, coordinating, and delivering trainings with service and housing agencies; research, and community outreach.
  •  Bring an ability to maintain quality relationships and partnerships with key community stakeholders, particularly with staff from city and state agencies, the Continuum of Care, community-based supportive housing providers and partners who are the recipients of CSH technical assistance. This includes representing the team externally.
  •  Contribute to CSH’s priorities to advance racial equity, address racial disparities in housing and services, and engage and collaborate with communities of color, culturally specific organizations, and persons with lived experience.
  •  Use strong communication skills, including basic business writing, facilitation training, and active listening.
  •  Work with agility and curiosity with other related duties or special projects locally, or in collaboration with regional and national teams as assigned.

Specifically, we are seeking:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. This includes lived experience of homelessness, housing instability, participation in housing programs, etc., and professional and/or volunteer experience in the homelessness field.
  • Experience working in the planning, design, supervision and/or delivery of supportive housing, Knowledge and experience in affordable and supportive housing finance and development.
  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color, in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process.
  • An understanding of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias, white dominant culture and structures of power, and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities is preferred.
  • Project management experience, with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills and the ability to manage project teams, project budgets and deadlines with moderate supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, facilitation and training, active listening, and ability to present to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically and socially diverse communities.
  • Frequent local and regional travel and occasional national travel required (when it is safe to do so, once in-person gatherings resume.) Travel ranges by position and geography, but for this position most travel is within the Mid-Atlantic and ranges from 25-40% once travel resumes. 

Compensation:

CSH offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our Project Manager range in a mid-market location is $60,000 – $80,000. Our ranges are broad and it is customary for candidates to join CSH at the lower half of the range to leave room for growth, learning, and development in the role and range. It is uncommon for starting salaries to fall above the mid-point. We negotiate actual salaries with final candidates based on their exact location, experience in similar roles and expertise related to the qualifications.
