Earlier this month, Temenos CDC celebrated the grand opening of Temenos III, fifteen units of supportive housing uniquely designed to serve those who are chronically homeless and experiencing chronic inebriation in Midtown Houston, Texas.
CSH funds were used for permanent financing to refurbish a community center into this single-room-occupancy residence. The project was partially funded with a $750,000 grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
With the launch of these units, Temenos CDC will again venture into new territory with an aggressive plan to disrupt homelessness in Houston by addressing the additional levels of complexity often associated with tenants who have histories of long-term homelessness and inebriation.
Temenos III will meet the needs of a hard-to-house population with a harm reduction housing model. It will be the first project of its kind in Houston, embracing the integrated care model of service delivery, utilizing the services of SEARCH to provide intense case management, and partnering with Houston’s Healthcare for the Homeless to ensure access to healthcare and dental services.
Temenos CDC has been building supportive housing in Houston since 2006. Temenos CDC properties are located in the Downtown, Midtown and East End areas of Houston.
All three neighborhoods are undergoing significant revitalization, and the presence of the Temenos housing to help alleviate the challenges of homelessness is vital to building a healthier and stronger community overall.
