Rural Supportive Housing Initiative

One of our CSH Summit sponsors and valued CSH Supportive Housing Training Center partner, Collaborative Solutions, is offering three unique training opportunities through the Rural Supportive Housing Initiative. They are looking to partner with organizations and communities that would like to host any of the workshops, offered free of charge, described in detail below.

Workshops

Engaged and Informed: The Keys to Successful Landlord Engagement and Eviction Prevention in Rural Communities Market rate units are getting harder to secure for vulnerable clients. This workshop will be tailored to service providers, advocates, and housing locators who are interacting with landlords, both making the sell and sustaining units when relationships are challenged. Participants will practice interactions with landlords, including presentations to landlord groups, to ensure messaging is strong, ingrained in the pitch, and framed effectively to get landlords to say yes and house your clients.

Coordinated Entry: Best Practices to Plan and Implement a Rural Coordinated Entry System The federal government has set January 2018 as the date to have a coordinated entry system (CES) in place. Many rural communities are struggling with how to plan and implement a CES across a wide geographic area with few service providers. This workshop will guide communities through the initial design and planning for a CES, and offer recommendations on best practices from other rural communities. Through this workshop communities will produce a CES checklist of next steps.

Housing Based Case Management: How to Prioritize Affordable Housing Provision for Clients Many service providers have been trained to provide clinical, medically-focused supportive services for clients. It is our belief that housing is the foundation for stability and providers must be trained to understand and prioritize the affordable housing needs of clients to better help them achieve housing stability and improve overall well-being. This workshop provides essential tools to teach providers how to prioritize housing and includes the key concepts such as low barrier program design, landlord engagement, and eviction prevention.

Each workshop listed above offers unique learning and information-sharing opportunities – all designed to enhance a community’s ability to provide safe, affordable, and stable homes for vulnerable people living in rural communities. Collaborative Solutions will work with your organization to plan and implement a workshop that is tailored to your community.
