Keeping Families Together Tour & McSilver Learning Meeting

CSH and the Child Welfare and Supportive Housing Resource Center sponsored peer-to-peer activities this week in New York City to highlight and enhance the national demonstration project showcasing the Keeping Families Together supportive housing model. Participants from the five sites involved in the demonstration initiative – Broward County, Florida; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Connecticut; Memphis, Tennessee; and San Francisco, California – visited Diversity Works and Fox Point Family Supportive Housing in the Bronx, and met with Housing+Solutions, to learn from three supportive housing providers involved in the original Keeping Families Together pilot.

Participants were able to hear first-hand the challenges and lessons learned about partnerships, housing models, service practices and approaches, and how providers made the Keeping Families Together pilot successful. On the second day of the peer-to-peer, participants from the demonstration sites met at the McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research in Manhattan where they actively engaged in reviewing and learning skills that covered supportive housing case management and supervision. They also participated in troubleshooting sessions focused on potential challenges and engaged in group problem solving with their colleagues, experts from the Child Welfare and Supportive Housing Resource Center and staff from the McSilver Institute.
