Seeking Input for Proposed Legislation in MN

CSH facilitated six community meetings across the state of Minnesota along with the MN Department of Human Services to look specifically at opportunities in Group Residential Housing (GRH) and Minnesota Supplemental Aid (MSA) Housing Assistance to meet the goals of the State’s Olmstead Plan and Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness. DHS aims to increase housing options, expand opportunities for people to receive services in the community, improve work incentives, simplify program requirements and enhance quality assurance.

At these meetings, Program Manager Becky Melang presented draft legislative changes and requested feedback to inform the legislation on GRH and MSA that will be proposed to Governor Dayton this fall.

These meetings were well attended by people with disabilities, family members, providers, city, county, and state officials, advocates and others in Owatonna, Willmar, St. Paul, Fargo, Duluth, and Bemidji.

Stay tuned to learn about future results of this proposed legislation.
