CSH in Alaska!

CSH strives to bring our work to every corner of this country. We've had a presence in Alaska since 2004 when staff provided a training on Fair Housing in Supportive Housing.  Since then, CSH has had a growing presence providing support and technical assistance on a variety of areas.  In the winter of 2008-09, CSH helped the State of Alaska complete it’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness.  This marked a new interest from Alaska to bring in CSH resources to help create a variety of Permanent Supportive housing models to help end homelessness in the State.

Between 2009 and 2011, CSH has helped Alaska end homelessness through the following:

  • Presenting on re-entry housing at the State conference on homelessness and housing
  • Presenting full-day trainings on services in Anchorage and Fairbanks and  Nome
  • Providing technical assistance and facilitating a community discussion on the 10 Year Plan for the Matanuska-Susitana Valley, an area outside of Anchorage that includes Palmer and Wasilla
  • Engaging stakeholders and funders in the American Indian Supportive Housing Initiative (AISHI) for Alaskan tribes and agencies providing PSH to homeless Native Alaskans
  • Giving an intensive two-day training and follow up technical assistance for providers throughout the State on operating and providing services in PSH with a focus on the relationships and partnerships between property management and supportive services

CSH is excited about the promise of this work and looks forward to continuing our presence in Alaska.
