Alabama Rural Supportive Housing Institute

CSH and Collaborative Solutions, Inc. have created the Rural Supportive Housing Institute under a joint Rural Housing and Economic Development (RHED) 2009 grant.

Seven teams focusing on rural counties in Alabama came together to work on new supportive housing projects over the course of five months for the Institute.  The interactive training series included teams from mental health centers, housing providers, service agencies, and HIV/AIDS housing providers. Teams projects range from 2-20 units each, and will result in a total of 75 new units for the State of Alabama.

The Institute also included site visits to local housing and service providers, as well as a trip to Hale County to visit the PieLab, Rural Studio of Auburn University, and model projects in the County.  Teams graduated from the Institute in June 2011 and are receiving follow-up TA from CSH and CSI through 2012.
