Take Action-- Urge your Representative to support full funding of Section 8 vouchers in the FY 2006 appropriations process!!
Click here to view the bipartisan letter of support for Section 8 vouchers that is now circulating for signature in the House (you'll see a Dear Colleague followed by the letter itself). Please help drum up as many signatures for this letter as you can -- this is one of the simplest, easiest asks you can make -- either directly yourself or using your field!
Any signatures are welcome on the letter, and getting a large number is important to Reps. Nadler, Shays, Velazquez, and Tiberi, who are circulating the letter. However, it will be particularly important to get as many Republicans as possible, to show the bipartisan nature of congressional support for Section 8. A similar letter circulated last year, which garnered a substantial number of Republican signatures, reportedly made a real impression on VA-HUD Subcommittee Chairman Walsh -- we need to make a similar impression on the new chairman!
Key targets include members of the House Financial Services Committee (especially the housing subcommittee), plus the following 31 Republicans who have taken actions supportive of Section 8 in the past: 1. Bachus (R-AL)^ 2. Bartlett (R-MD)^ 3. Boehlert (R-NY)* 4. Bradley (R-NH)* 5. Capito (R-WV)^ 6. Castle (R-DE)^ 7. Davis (R-MO)^ 8. English (R-PA)*#^ 9. Fossella (R-NY)^ 10. Green (R-WI)#^ 11. Johnson (R-CT)*^ 12. King (R-NY)% 13. Leach (R-IA)*#^ 14. Lewis (R-KY)^ 15. LoBiondo (R-NJ)* 16. Lucas (R-OK)* 17. McHugh (R-NY)*^ 18. Murphy (R-PA)^ 19. Nussle (R-IA)^ 20. Osborne (R-NE)* 21. Paul (R-TX)^ 22. Ramstad (R-MN)*#^ 23. Renzi (R-AZ)* 24. Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL)* 25. Ryan (R-WI)^ 26. Sensenbrenner (R-WI)^ 27. Smith (R-NJ)^ 28. Simmons (R-CT)* 29. Tancredo (R-CO)^ 30. Walden (R-OR)^ 31. Wilson (R-NM)^
