CSH California works with nonprofit groups who develop, manage and offer services within supportive housing. This work is supported by CSH's government and private sector funding partners.

Since its inception, the California office has helped its non-profit partners develop over 11,000 supportive housing units in Alameda, Contra Costa, Los Angeles, Marin, San Diego, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties, among others.

CSH has also been able to:

• strengthen the skills of dozens of providers and nurture the industry by offering technical trainings and opportunities to enter into dialogue with policymakers on key funding and program issues;
• produce quality reports, evaluations and studies that range in from building partnerships, to legal issues in supportive housing, 
• work with major local developers and experienced service providers to strengthen their work by establishing partnerships and helping to design or restructure service delivery and property management systems;
• advocate for greater resources for the development of housing affordable to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and for the provision of integrated services.

The California program has also created the Health, Housing and Integrated Services Network initiative to provide high quality integrated health, social and vocational services to tenants and lay the groundwork for long-term sustainable funding for these critical services. Interim findings from a study conducted by Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy of more than 250 tenants who reside in HHISN housing found that 81% or 204 remained housed for at least one year and that they experienced a:

• 58% decrease in emergency room visits;
• 57% drop in the number of inpatient days; and
• 100% drop in use of residential mental health facilities.
