Posted May 28, 2009: Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership (SWMHP) is seeking a Supportive Housing Specialist. This position (officed in Slayton, Minnesota) is responsible for the promotion of supportive housing in southwest and south central Minnesota. Supportive housing combines support services and affordable housing opportunities, with a goal of helping residents maintain housing stability. People who are homeless, seriously mentally ill, or elderly are the primary populations served through SWMHP supportive housing. Primary tasks of the Supportive Housing Specialist include: working with communities, housing providers, services agencies, HUD Continuum of Care members, and other related groups including to ensure that the supportive housing needs of the region are identified and met; development, coordination, and evolution of supportive housing programming at SWMHP; grantwriting; and supportive housing project coordination with other agency departments and community partners.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required, preferably in City/Regional Planning, Social Work, Communications, or Public Administration. Minimum one year of program administration required, preferably in homeless services/housing. Essential skills include handling and managing multiple tasks, working both independently or in a team, and communicating clearly both verbally and in writing. The primary responsibility of the Vice President of Residential and Homeless Programs is to provide mission-focused vision and leadership to achieve and maintain excellence in all residential, homeless and employment supportive services. Our Residential & Homeless Programs division include 418 units of supportive and affordable housing (12 locations with plans for expansion), various winter initiatives, occupational services (supported employment and education), and social enterprise businesses. The Vice President position will integrate the division’s initiatives with the organization’s strategic direction and manage strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Specific responsibilities will include direct supervision of 4 Directors, a HUD Compliance Manager, and an Executive Assistant; strategic plan implementation and oversight of outcomes; program evaluation and development to ensure that the highest quality of services are delivered; identification of new programs and services; oversight of operating budgets and program controlled revenue (e.g. business revenue); and development/management of relationships with external funders and key partners.
